Clarifi Aims to Take the Confusion Out of Investing

New workshop series will help participants see how to start investing and set goals.

PHILADELPHIA (October 7, 2016) – Investing can be daunting and confusing, but Clarifi, the region’s largest personal finance nonprofit, is hoping to change that. This month, the agency is introducing Investing Made Simple, a new workshop series to help people learn how to start investing and maximize their savings.

Clarifi found that more of their clients and community partners were expressing interest in investment education, which led them to develop this curriculum.

“Investing is a more important option than ever, whether you’re saving for retirement, your child’s education or a business venture,” says Joe Wehr, chartered retirement planning counselor for Clarifi. “We really want to make sure people are informed about the different options, risks and how to find trusted help.”

Investing Made Simple will consist of two workshops and help participants:

  • Develop short and long-term savings goals
  • Review key investment options and tools
  • Consider risks and fees
  • Identify a trusted financial advisor

Part One: Ready to Invest? Start Here.
October 25, 6pm – 8pm

Part Two: How to Invest Like a Pro
November 1, 6pm – 8pm

Both workshops will be held at Temple University’s Center City campus at 1500 Market Street
Philadelphia, PA 19102.

Clarifi is now in its 50th year of offering counseling and education to help people improve their credit and reduce debt. One troubling trend they see among clients is that many of them have little or no retirement savings.

“In today’s world, it’s really up to you to save for your retirement, so we hope this series drives home the importance of that,” adds Wehr.

To register for the Investing Made Simple series, visit clarifi.org/invest or call 267-765-2732. There is a $75 fee for the series, which includes four hours of education.

Clarifi's goal with this series is strictly to provide investment education and not recommend or sell any specific investment products.
